My name is Thuy Van Ton a.k.a. Mookie ( don't ask y, it is what it is ), born
in West Philadelphia, raised in North Philadelphia. Currently 26 years old, offensively turning 27 on June 19. Born to a Laotian
mother and a Vietnamese father, but sadly can only speak Laotian and English. At the age of 10, I knew that singing and music
was in my blood, my mother had a band of her own and and was also the lead singer, inspired and ambitious,
I trained myself to sing, and strive to become a great artist and a performer.

My experience: Started to perform with a live band called Secret
Weapon, did only a couple of shows with them, found courage to sing at open mic at a couple of places, and performed live
at Club Flow in Philly. I also performed solo at a wedding, singing Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross, "Endless Love". My music
taste is very eclectic, from jazz, r&b, and oldies to pop, neo-soul and alternative. Not only do I love different genre's
of music, but can also perform them well.
Favorite artist includes, Ella Fitzgerald, Alicia Keys, Brian McKnight,
Mariah Carey, The Roots, Erykah Badu, The Bee Gees, Carol King, Sarah Mclachlan, and Evanescence. My goal in life is to become
the artist that I am destined to be, whether it be performing with a great band doing live music at shows, or signing the
contract. I love to sing, but my love and emotions for music alone can move any mountain.

When
I'm on stage serenading my audience, I feel tingles running up and down my spine. I want the world to feel my passion for
music, and taste my subtle emotions....
Money is the root of all evil, it can
make you happy but can make you sad. It can make you rich but also poor, but what if all the rich people became poor for one
day and all the poor people became rich, would it change everyone's perspective on life and how people treat each other. What
would the world come to, you don't see the rich constantly getting arrested, killed, starving, or stealing. Why has society
segregated the poor from the rich, is it because we are considered to be rodents, a pest to the world or just futile. Not
everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouths, some people struggle to survive working minimum wage because they couldn't
afford to go to college. Where do the lower class and middle class stand, can we ever have a life like the rich families,
or will we suffer for the rest of our lives, living off of our weekly checks. I speak for myself and for the people of Philadelphia,
my eyes have seen pain and struggle, for I have been there myself. It seems like the harder you work the more Uncle Sam takes,
what is the gov't doing, how is he contributing to the people if thousands are homeless and starving, single mothers working
2 jobs to take of her kids, drugs on the streets, and guns taking down innocent lives everynight. This city doesn't
get better, but worst, and the gap between the rich and poor seems to inflate everyday, what has this world come to, can anyone
save us, and when will we smile and laugh again, because we're just tired of crying, hoping for a better life.
